Jencks Act or Rule
A criminal defendant in a Federal Court is entitled to access to government documents for assistance in cross-examination of witnesses in order to impeach for prior inconsistent statements. Jencks v. U. S., 353 U.S. 657, 77 S.Ct. 1007, 1 L.Ed.2d 1103.
Following this case, a federal statute was enacted to the same effect; 18 U.S.C.A. No. 3500.
